Battling the wind and the rain, residents of
Ringstead were not deterred to come out in big
numbers to help celebrate the grand opening of
their new play equipment in Ringstead Peace
Park.

It has been a three-year project for Ringstead
Community Group to raise the funds needed
for the new play equipment. Summer fêtes,
a village fun run and various events over the
years have helped towards their goal, but it was
not until May 2014 when a £50,000 funding by
WREN was granted, soon followed by £27,000
from ENC, that the project could fi nally happen!
The new Peace Park was opened on Sunday
29th March. Ribbons were cut by Emily Daley,
pictured below, and Maisey Baker cut a second
ribbon. A competition was run for the best
poster design to “keep our park tidy”. Elliot
Dunmore was the winner for Ringstead School,
but was unable to attend, and Emily was runner
up. Maisey was the winner of Ringstead Robins
preschool. The event was supported by local
councillors Gillian Mercer and Sylvia Hughes
who donated £500 towards the project from
the empowering councillors and communities
scheme.

Family fun and games were the aim of the day
with a village Easter Egg Hunt mapped around
the village, spring fl ower planting in the park,
and races and games followed by BBQ.

Ringstead Community Group was amazed to
see the overwhelming attendance from residents
to the event and would like to thank everyone
who has supported their fundraising events,
especially WREN & ENC for their support and
funding. If you would like more information,
