CranfordLive! 2012 Music Festival is back this summer with new bands, new attractions, and more fun for all the family following the huge success of last year’s big fi rst event in Cranford Village. New for this year - to keep the children entertained while mums and dads enjoy the music - will be activities such as a climbing wall, infl atable obstacle course and bouncy castle.

CranfordLive! 2011 set out to reach a wider audience than ‘just’ Cranford residents; it exceeded all expectations with over 1500 people attending throughout the day. The success was largely due to the hard work of the team of more than 50 volunteers from Cranford, the WI plus friends and family who pulled together to run the event. It had a most positive effect on Cranford as a community - old friends, who had previously lived in the village or who had attended school at Cranford, returned for the day. An additional bonus was that enough money was raised to carry out essential maintenance of the Village Hall.

Using the experiences from last year, a revised and even better music festival with entertainment for all the family is planned to take place on the fi rst weekend of August, this time to raise money for a revamp of the toilet facilities of the Village Hall and to support other village projects.

The event kicks off at 7pm on Friday 3rd August with Cranford ‘Shindig’ in the partysized
marquee next to Cranford Village Hall. You will be dancing to the Claddagh Band from Peterborough, a lively and entertaining Irish/folk band, and be able to enjoy real ale from the bar. Tickets £7.50, to include jacket potato with a variety of fi llings, are limited so book early to avoid disappointment from Rachel on 01536 330539.

Sunday 5th August sees a day full of live music, pipers and choirs, acts and bands all in a
fun and friendly family environment, running from 12noon until 8pm. New bands in the Festival line-up will be acts including Celtic Reggae, Voices Aloud Choir, 7StoreySoul and Divisional. They will join favourites from last year such as Cranford jazz singer Susan Valliant Speer plus Branstown Band, Blacklight Pioneer and The Shamlas. An acoustic stage will feature Paul Liddell and Mitch Daniels and many of the bands contain musicians who live in Cranford.

Performances will take place on two stages set in the beautiful park land behind the Village Hall. The children’s activities include a 40 foot-high climbing wall plus assault course and bouncy castle, and there will be free entertainment: story telling plus Mr Mudge and his circus skills workshops to entertain young ones as well.

Refreshments on offer range from hog roast and barbecue to real ale, Pimm’s, tea and home made cakes. There will also be market stalls, raffl e and plenty of free parking. Entry fee is £2.50 and please note, that no dogs are allowed.
