Poets, Posers and Paraphernalia’

‘Poets, Posers and Paraphernalia’; the fi rst solo exhibition from Kettering-based artist, Carolyn Bushell, since winning the People’s Choice Award at the Alfred East Open Exhibition in 2007. This exhibition will feature many new works, portraits of literary and theatrical fi gures as well as the rock and blues musicians that Carolyn is renowned for.

Since the closure of Barton Hall Studios and relocating into a new studio in Wicksteed Park, Carolyn has been able to concentrate upon building a new substantial collection to compliment the old favourites, such as the John R Cash which was the winning oil painting back in 2007. The new collection features composers such as Gustav Mahler and Richard Wagner; literary fi gures including Friedrich Nietzsche, WB Yeats and Oscar Wilde, as well as branching out into 1920s Weimar Germany for key infl uences such as Marlene Dietrich.

Works on display will vary from oil paintings to pencil & pastel works with a flavour from the aesthetic movement which has been a continual infl uence in Carolyn’s life.

The exhibition opens with a Private Viewing on Sunday 7th April 2-4pm and then ends on Sunday 21st April, open daily from 11am to 4.30pm. Carolyn will be in situ for some of the opening days but please do email fi rst to check on availability at  This email address is being protected from spambots.
