Jay Harrison’s Fundraising Weekend Ringstead Village Social Club Friday 3rd July through Sunday 5th July

Jay Harrison, a very talented 18-year-old resident of Ringstead, sadly passed away in April from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. During the last six months of his life, Jay was always positive about his future and said that when he was better he was determined to organise a weekend of events at Ringstead Village Social Club to raise much-needed funds for CLIC Sargent for Children with Cancer and the Teenage Cancer Trust charities. Both charities need funds to provide cancersuffering children, who are in hospital, and their families with financial support; they help to fund specialist staff in specific hospitals where children with cancer are being treated. Ward 27 at Leicester Royal Infirmary was Jay’s home for many months.

Jay’s wish to organise a fund raising event has now been taken up by his family and members of the Social Club. They have organised a full programme of events over the 3rd-5th July weekend, starting off Friday starts at 7.30pm with a family race night, a BBQ and a large raffle. From 8pm on Saturday, the Club will host a ‘ J ‘ Theme Fancy Dress Night, so put your thinking cap on and see which ‘ J ‘ character you could come as? There will be a Group and Disco plus Hog Roast and a Grand Auction of Promises, which include one week at a Spanish villa close to Malaga, a luxury painting class for up to ten people, a two-course Indian meal for six, and many more.

On Sunday from noon, families can do the JAYWALK, a leisurely stroll around the village solving and picking up clues as you go - including separate clues for children. You can get yourself sponsored for this walk, so pick up a form from the Club. £2 per entry form, prizes for winners. The afternoon will see a fun time at the Club with a table top sale, stalls, refreshments and entertainment.

To round off the weekend, take part in the 50/50 fun cash bingo with a difference at 5pm and the giant raffle at 6pm, where the total amount raised over the event will be announced. It is hoped a target of £5000 will be reached so come along to these events and help us to raise this amount. If you would like to support this event in anyway either by donating prizes, donating and/or bidding for promises, booking a stall, pre-buying or sponsoring a horse and purchasing entry tickets please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
