A friendly and welcoming choir based in the villages of Cottingham and Middleton is on the lookout for new members to help swell its ranks.

Valley Voice, who came second in the Mixed Choir category at the 2014 Kettering Eisteddfod, is looking for men and women over 18 to come along and share their love of singing. The choir sings a wide range of modern and traditional songs including pop, musicals and gospel – and have even had a song specially written for them!

Valley Voice has been together for over five years and they meet every Tuesday at 7.30pm during school term times at Cottingham’s Methodist Hall. It costs just £2.50 a week, which is payable at the start of each term to cover any expenses. They perform locally in concerts throughout the year, including village events, carol concerts during Rockingham Castle’s Victorian Christmas week and at Kettering Eisteddfod.

Although they sing in four part harmony – soprano, alto, tenor and bass – you don’t need to be able to read music or even have a musical background to become a member. Valley Voice choir leader Debbie Smith and the rest of the choir will give you all the help and encouragement you need.

New members are welcome to come along and join in at any time, but the choir is also holding free taster sessions on Tuesday 8th September and Tuesday 3rd November at 7.30pm in the Methodist Hall on Corby Road, Cottingham.

If you would like to join in, or if you want to find out more, please call Jo Leaning on 01536 770913.

Valley Voice hopes to see you soon!
