Two local women started 2016 with great
personal satisfaction after the very recent
publication of their book ‘JE MOURRAI MOINS
BÊTE’ - 200 French expressions to help you
die less stupid. Combining their different
talents professional French language tutor,
Clare Jones, and artist and illustrator, Tamsin
Edwards, have come together to produce a
delightfully illustrated book of French idioms.
‘Je mourrai moins bête’ is how the
French would say ‘you learn something
new every day’, and it literally means ‘I
will die less stupid’.

The book is ideal reading for anyone
who is already fairly fluent in French but
who gets tripped up by figurative language.
It is perfect for anyone who spends time
living in France or working with the
French.

It is also an entertaining book just to dip into
even if your French is not great, as Tamsin’s
sense of humour shines through in her quirky
and fun illustrations. You can literally laugh and
learn at the same time!

Clare fell in love with the French
language at the age of eleven and went
on to study the subject to degree level
before following a career as a qualified
teacher. Tamsin studied art at both Nene
Art College, Northampton, and Derby
School of Art and has always had a desire
to ‘create’ for as long as she can remember.
Clare and Tamsin have now been able to fulfill
a long-held ambition by joining forces; despite
the many challenges and the steep learning
curve of how to publish a book, both Clare and
Tamsin have enjoyed the experience.

The pair already worked together back in 2011,
to produce an iPhone application: “Figure out
French, Rouler un patin: to give a French kiss
and other French expressions for leisure and
health”.

‘JE MOURRAI MOINS BÊTE’ is currently
available on Amazon as both a paperback and
an eBook. Download the first chapter for free
