Corby Floral Fest is a contemporary floral art exhibition that will be held from Friday 14th October through Sunday 16th October from 11am to 3.30pm. The exhibition will be staged in the Main Hall at the Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre, Alberta Close, Corby NN18 9HU. All the exhibits will be staged by Corby & District Flower Club, members of the community as well as a local artist to create a centrepiece. The club is a member of the South Midlands Area of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies), which is an educational charity. Corby & District Flower Club secured funding from Made In Corby and Arts Council England to hold Corby Floral Fest and the members hope that lots of people will come along, see the exhibition and have a go at the floral art taster sessions and demonstrations. There is free admission and on-site parking, with refreshments available and stalls.
As part of Floral Fest, the Club has secured three big names in the world of floral art who will be holding workshops, talks or demonstrations during the event. On Thursday 13th October at 10am, Mig Kimpton will be holding a Day School at the Neighbourhood Centre, places for this are limited and can be booked on 07783 451831. On Saturday 15th October at 8pm, Sean Murray, who took part in the BBC TV programme ‘The Chelsea Garden Challenge’ and who went on to design a garden at the 2015 Chelsea Flower Show, will be giving a talk on that experience followed by a question and answer session for any budding designers. On Monday 17th October at 7.45pm and to close the event, Jonathan Moseley, who you may know from the BBC TV programmes ‘The Allotment Challenge’ and ‘Chatsworth’ will present a floral demonstration ‘Floral Art Attack’. Jonathan is also a NAFAS floral demonstrator, freelance designer and the founder of #flowertalk. Both Sean and Jonathan’s events are being held in the Lab, at the Core, Corby Cube. Tickets, priced at £10, are available from the Cube by contacting 01536 470470.
