Ringstead Heritage Group has spent some months working
with a Heritage Lottery funded Trading Places project,
managed by Rockingham Forest Trust at Stanwick Lakes, to
uncover the history of the village’s two watermills and windmill.
The project also involved pupils from the Ringstead C of E
Primary School. There was a very successful presentation
in June at Woodford Mill Tearooms in which members of the
Heritage Group took on the identities of people associated with
the mills in the mid-1800s. In addition there was a display of
the information and photographs gathered during the Group’s
research about the history of the mills.

Due to demand for tickets at the first presentation there will be a
repeat of the event on Thursday 29th September at Ringstead
Village Social Club. Doors will be open at 7.00pm and the
presentation will begin at 7.30pm. Light refreshments will be
served before and after the event and a bar is available.

There is no charge, but tickets are required for admission and
can be obtained from the Social Club, the Post Office or by
telephoning 01933 460676.

A free leaflet of walks to the sites of the mills has been produced
and is available from Woodford Mill Tearoom and Ringstead
Post Office.
