Funding Olympic Skiing Dream

Hannington-based Jessica Tignes Anderson must have been born to ski as her parents partly named her after their favourite French ski resort.  Having had her first skiing lesson when she was two and a half, and winning races by the time she was six, Jess has been a member of the British Children’s Team since the age of eleven, representing GB in many competitions each year and becoming British GS and Super G Champion in 2017.  She is now part of the Team GB under 21 squad and a contender to take part in the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, later this year.

During the winter, Jess trains in Austria at the Ambition Racing and, when at home, she trains at SnoZone in Milton Keynes, where she is one of their sponsored skiers.  Skiing is great sport and Jess hopes to inspire other children to take it up when they hear about her success. As Jess receive no funding for the expensive sport, which costs her in excess of £30,000 a year, she is looking for sponsors to help her pursue her Olympic dream.   Securing sustainable financial backing would help her go from strength to strength.  Squad members are allowed to add one name or logo to their kit, so if the right sponsor came along they could see their name on Jess’s ski wear as she races down the slopes.

The former Molton College student has also turned businesswoman to help fund some of her sporting costs.  Fitting in perfectly with Jess’s own ecological interests, the environmentally friendly clothing brand, My Bamboo, is moisture-wicking, breathable and ideal for sensitive skin too.  It keeps you warm in the cold and cool in the heat, so is ideal for menopausal women too. My Bamboo clothing suits a range of activities from leisure to fitness and outdoor pursuits.  Jess has launched a baby range, as the material is perfect for babies’ sensitive skin, with its anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic and antistatic properties, and even thought to aid sleep.  Jess also hopes to design her own fitness wear in the future.
