Ever missed a parcel delivery?

By the end of 2011, as a nation, we will have made 10% of all our goods purchases online. Whether you buy from Amazon or eBay, from Next or M&S the frustrating thing is that we are all frequently left a missed delivery card and not the items we have ordered.

If you have a missed delivery card then you are left with two options: either pick the parcel up from the carrier’s depot or stay in all day waiting for the item to be redelivered. Founded by Gerard Scully and Carl Mayers, Locarn was conceived on the experiences of Gerard, who is a keen internet shopper.

Working from home at the time, Gerard would notice the delivery drivers travelling up and down his road every day and their many failed attempts to make deliveries to his neighbours. Also, although he worked from home he would miss his own parcels too and as a resident of Mawsley village, he experienced the inconvenience of having to travel into town to collect a parcel himself. He thought there must be a better way than this and Locarn was born, the name is derived from LOcal CARrier Network.

How does it work?
Locarn.co.uk is a website that empowers you to be in control of your deliveries. All you need to do is register with Locarn, it is FREE, and when you make your next purchase, at the checkout page you send your parcel to Locarn and not to your home address.

As soon as Locarn receives it they send you a text and an email to tell you that they have your parcel. You then log into your Locarn account and pick a delivery slot that is suitable for you and pay a nominal fee. The best thing is that if you book your slot before 4pm on the day the parcel is received, you can have your parcel the same evening. If
you want to that is, remember you are now in control!
