Saturday 21st July will see the third Food Festival taking place in Oundle. Some of the highlights will include: Oundle Street Market The street market is at the heart of the day with around 50 market stalls in the Market Place, featuring local growers, producers and street food providing opportunities to taste food as it really should be, and a chance to meet the people who grow, nurture and produce real food. Cookery Demonstrations Times columnist Joanna Weinberg will be demonstrating a few of her favourite dishes from her book Cooking for Real Life published in May this year. This will take place from 10.30-12.30am on Saturday 21st July in the Queen Victoria Hall. Tickets £12.50 (children under 12 free) are Earlier in the week… on Monday 16th July from 7pm to 9pm The chef at The King’s Arms in Polebrook will be running a seafood class, making traditional bouillabaisse. Children’s Activities The Eden Project will be running free activities to get children involved in both growing and cooking. Renown for its iconic gardens, they are also well known for running transformational research, social and environmental projects, creating unforgettable learning experiences for student. There will be continuous 30-minute practical sessions, repeating through the day from 10am-2pm, that families can dip into at any point, demonstrating how easy it is to grow your own tasty and nutritious vegetables from seed. Participants will be able to take away the fruits of their labour in the form of a container of compost sown with seed of their choice, to witness the magic of germination in their own home/garden. With the aid of “here’s one I made earlier”, we can skip forward six weeks to try the tasty results as well. Restaurant Week Some of the best local eateries will be offering a festival menu for lunch and dinner to enable you to taste the fi nest seasonal food at affordable prices. Those taking part are: The Food Debate The food festival will be hosting a food debate ‘Feeding the Next Generation’. Speakers will be drawn from different backgrounds - catering, organic farming, sustainable fi shing, retail and large scale production. It will be a Question Time style of debate, with each speaker introducing themselves before taking questions from the fl oor. The Chair of The Food Debate is Sue MacGregor who was the longest-serving presenter at the BBC heading the Today programme,being the voice of Woman’s Hour on Radio 4 and a reporter on The World at One. Street Theatre and The Fringe Festival The Food Festival will once again host performances from the Fringe Festival to give the street market a carnival atmosphere.
