Both Geddington & Newton Bowls Club and Islip Bowls Club are having open days on Saturday 18th May to try to attract new members to the game.

Islip Bowls Club is the older of the two, founded in 1921, and players visiting today still have great memories of playing on the old green, with all the fun antics of the green and the game. The new green used to be the old tennis courts but has turned into a great bowling surface, being upgraded from a ‘C’ to a ‘B’ grade in 2012.

In order to keep the club going from strength to strength new members would be most welcome, young or a little older! If you have ever wondered what the game of bowls is all about then come along to the Recreation Ground in Islip at 2pm to have a go, just watch,
look at the stalls or join in for a cream tea. The club will also have the official  opening of the new changing facilities by a member of Bowls England on the day. For any further information, please contact 01933 652073.

Geddington & Newton Bowls Club will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The club has 100 playing and social members and its ‘A’ grade green is often used by the County for matches and competitions. The large club house has its own bar and, with its beautiful setting, is a great place for a social game of bowls.

The open day from 10am to 1pm is an opportunity to try out a new sport for free; it is friendly, fun and will keep you fit! Following on from the open day is a course of six weekly coaching sessions to introduce new members to the game of bowls.
