Blooming Christmas!

It’s hard to believe that another year is already drawing to a close. It’s certainly a sign that the weather is getting colder, my sheepskin boots are on and will probably stay on till March.

I enjoy each season in different ways. Walking through the village where I live in late afternoon, I love the smell of the log fi res burning, lamps twinkling in the windows, collecting conkers with my grandchildren and soups and stews when we get home. Winter’s drawing nigh.

In the shop, we have to turn our thoughts to Christmas already. Christmas is the time of year when we can go a little over the top with our decorating ready to welcome friends and family. My favourite job at home is to decorate the tree. I love to get out the faded boxes of glass and silver baubles and the fairy I’ve had since I was a child, but I like to try something new each year. Last year, I tied orange slices and bunch of cinnamon sticks on to the tree. I always have a fresh tree so the combination of smells created a lovely atmosphere when you walked in the room.

As vintage has been a huge trend this year with every one baking and making cupcakes,
why not carry the theme on for Christmas create a pretty table arrangement with a three tier cake stand layering up with fi r cones coloured baubles and roses placed on a round mirror surround with pretty tea lights? So simple yet so beautiful.

If you are looking for something slightly different, we have a super range of unusual presents for all of the family: scented candles, Cath Kidston toiletries as well as the traditional decorations for the table, door wreathes, swags and garlands. If you would like to have a go at making your own door wreath or table decoration, I will be having a workshop on December 9th. All fl owers and materials are included along with lunch for just £45. Just bring your own scissors. Why not give mum a treat or come yourself? Just pop into the shop or give me a call for more details.

I know it’s only November and I hope it’s not too early for good wishes, but let’s hope next year will see this diffi cult time improve.

Peace, Joy and Love to you from all of us at The Garden Room. Xxxx
