Oundle School Music Department presents an exciting line-up of concerts and performances under the direction of Director of Music, Quentin Thomas which includes:
Lunchtime Concerts: St Peter’s Church Thursdays 5th, 12th, 19th March and 30th April from 1.15pm
Join us on Market Days in this beautiful church setting in Oundle for neatly presented and diverse concerts. Lunch is offered in the form of homemade soup and bread rolls from 1pm for £3, provided by Rachael Kelley of The Little Soup Kitchen. Good company, wholesome food, delightful music – surely the perfect line-up.
Musical Opportunities Concerts Recital Room, Gascoigne Building Wednesday 11th March at 6.15pm These concerts offer our pupils a small audience and safe platform to run through new repertoire prior to more demanding settings such as public concerts and exams. The Music Department, housed in the attractive Gascoigne Building, is to have its first of three phases of renovation unleashed over the Easter holiday 2015, and we look forward to the transformation of our Recital Room and two classrooms as part of this exciting development.
Hepburn Music Competition Various venues, various performances: 11.30am-1pm, 2-3.30pm, 4-5.30pm Final Competition: 7.30-9.30pm Sundays 1st and 8th March The Hepburn Competition is of a magnificent standard and scale and is of profound importance to Oundle musicians and our teachers. All classes, and the final evening concert, are open to members of the public. Classes take place throughout both Sundays and we are fortunate to have a revered line-up of external adjudicators, many from the Royal College of Music, London. 1st March: Piano, Singing, Guitar, Brass, Music Theatre Singing Competition. 8th March: Woodwind, Strings, Percussion. OSJOs 1&2 All Saints and St James Church, Kings Cliffe Friday 13th March at 7.30pm Tickets: £10 from Oundle Festival Box Office: 01832 274734 Our second Jazz Concert of the year involving our two Jazz Bands will include standards such as Spain, Sing, Sing, Sing and Georgia on my mind through to pop classics with Stevie Wonder’s Superstition and Rock around the clock.

A new fixture in our calendar - and running simultaneously to the OSJOs’ concert - is this delightful concert performed by many of our string players in support of Elton Methodist Church. Drawing from the ranks of our Wednesday Afternoon Philharmonic Strings, some of our fourteen String Quartets, Junior Strings, and Oundle Pops Orchestra, the varied programme will inspire you to sit back and enjoy its rich sonorities.
Take Two Concert Great Hall Sunday 15th March at 4pm Free of charge - all welcome Featuring performances from our numerous Junior ensembles including Junior Strings, Oundle Pops Orchestra, the Concert Band,
Junior Clarinet Group, percussion, choirs and solos galore.
Calling All Singers! Sunday 19th & Saturday 25th April We are gathering a chorus to unite with members from other Choral Societies in this region to perform the Karl Jenkins’ A Mass for Peace ahead of our concert on Friday 1st May in Peterborough Cathedral. Parents, staff, local community, pupils, friends, Old Oundelians are all welcome so please do come and get involved.
