Join us on Market Days in this beautiful church setting in Oundle for neatly presented and diverse concerts.  Homemade soup and bread rolls from 1pm for £3.50, provided by Rachael Kelley of The Little Soup Kitchen.  Good company, wholesome food, delightful music – surely the perfect line-up.

Masterclass Series
Tuesdays 7th, 14th,  21st & 28th November, 6pm

All welcome, no tickets required. An exciting new venture in the approach towards Advent is this series of Masterclasses with a focus on Bach, featuring a little open teaching and performances from both pupils and teachers.  As the evening darkness draws in, we hope to offer a moment of candlelight and pure, beautiful music for an hour.  We are grateful in advance to these Masters of their Art who will be steering each session.
British Trombone Society
Sunday 5th November, all day.

The giant paper clips are back in force in the form of the thirteenth annual East Anglian British Trombone Society Day.  Hear some of the world’s finest Trombonists as they perform alongside players from all over the area and country.  The day includes the customary line-up of the Massed Trombone Choir, rehearsals and a short end-of-day performance, along with a guest appearance at our Evensong in Chapel at 5.45pm.  Further details will be available from www.britishtrombonesociety.org

Choral Evensong

All welcome,  no tickets required. Choral Evensongs present any choir with the most diverse workout possible, encompassing the well-trodden traditions of chants and psalm singing, through to Responses, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis settings, hymns and anthems. 

RCM String Band
Monday 6th November, 7.45pm
Oundle School Chapel

All welcome to the final performance,  no tickets required. Directed by Mark Messenger, RCM and Angus Gibbon, Oundle’s Head of Strings, workshops commence at 5pm.  Our partnership with the Royal College of Music (RCM) flourishes and our annual focus on strings gives bountiful fulfilment and unique opportunity.  If Russian Romantic music is notable for its conveyance of deep emotion, then be moved by the Tchaikovsky which delivers a rich palette of contrasting moods. We expect to be fuelled and fortified by the stunning crew of the RCM String Band.

Junior Concert and Sing Off

All welcome, no tickets required The House Singing Competition is a significant event across the School which, two years ago, branched out to include our younger pupils in a fitting environment.  With the Unison and PartSong framing a choice of solos and ensembles, this event following the First and Second Form Parents’ Conference is a popular and fun hour not to be missed!

Advent Carol Service

All welcome, no tickets required but limited space Performed by Schola Cantorum, this is one of the most popular services of the year, sung by candlelight and offering poise and reflection before the celebrations soon to follow.

The Snowman
Friday 8th December, 9pm

All welcome, no tickets required. Little introduction is needed to this gem, other than to state that ALL attendees must be wrapped up warm and donning a dressing gown and scarf.  The teddy bear is an optional extra.  Embrace the season, clasp the cup of hot chocolate on offer and enjoy the projection of the organ on to a screen, with Narrator and Treble before you.  Music and Words by Howard Blake, performed by Quentin Thomas. Christmas Concert
Sunday 10th December, 5pm

Oundle School Great Hall All welcome.  Tickets required, free of charge. This concert promises to be a superb mix of vibrant and high-quality music-making, a few seasonal readings and just a little audience participation towards the end. 

Featured works include Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet score, originally some fifty-two pieces of music revised time and again – and now reworked by Quentin Thomas to include many of our younger string players alongside the Symphony Orchestra.  The Chamber Orchestra will be performing Mozart’s Little Symphony, allegedly written just two days after his Symphony No.24 at the grand old age of 17.  Its first movement is most familiar from the opening of the acclaimed film Amadeus.  Featuring the Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra, the Wind Orchestra and the Choir.
