Appreciating Quality and the Unusual
The appreciation of quality is perhaps a subjective notion. However, there must exist common features which bring about the liking of an object, and the desire to possess it. Broadly speaking these common features are:
a) The object is to be well crafted from fine materials. b) The object is pleasing to the eye. c) The object is useful.
Exceptions of course exist such as objet d’art and paintings which will appeal because they please the eye without necessarily being useful or crafted from the finest materials. Another area of growing interest is the appreciation of the unusual and quirky. This area includes collectible novelties, amusing items, exotica, rare scientific instruments, automata, ancient relics, etc.
At Affleck Bridge Antiques we make efforts to stock both quality and unusual items at competitive prices.
