The way that we feel and react to the world around us is based on the accumulation of content within our subconscious mind. Our thought processes are driven by this and are a product of all our experiences to date. This accumulation is stored within our subconscious mind and aided by the conscious mind to create character traits and habits of behaviour, decision-making and emotional reactions/triggers.
Generally, this process serves us well, but sometimes, due to a variety of circumstances, we can develop patterns of behaviour or habits that cause us distress. These patterns can become so deeply entrenched in the subconscious that they are difficult to resolve alone via rational or logical thoughts.
Our body is hard-wired for survival and will therefore do its utmost to keep us safe from harm. However, it cannot distinguish between a real threat and an anxious thought; the reaction is the same.
The subconscious mind is the master controller of our behaviour and can be stubborn in accepting change. Successful change can occur through the use of self-hypnosis which can be developed with the guidance of a trained Clinical Hypnotherapist. Hypnosis (and Hypnotherapy) is a collaborative process which is focused on the individual aims and objectives of the client.
Hypnosis is a natural state which we slip in and out of all of the time. It occurs at various depths whether we are mentally processing information or in a reflective, relaxed state. The relaxed daydream state provides access to the habit patterns and workings of the subconscious, thus creating a safe inner environment for the desired changes to occur.
Unwanted habits, traumas, fears & phobias, low self-esteem/confidence, anxiety, low mood, emotional fluctuations, self-defeating behaviours, health anxiety, social phobia are just some of the issues where hypnotherapy and associated therapies have proven to be of great benefit.
