Fifty Years of Civic Pride

Throughout fifty years, Kettering Civic Society, founded to promote good architecture and civic pride, has worked with many individuals, businesses and like-minded organisations, striving to make Kettering a better place. The Society boasts many achievements and endeavours to ensure that its aims and objectives continue to be fulfilled with renewed support. 

Kettering Civic Society holds events in its community space ‘Time Travellers’ at Kettering Station.  Throughout the year, it arranges exhibitions, meetings, trips, presentations and coffee mornings, and it presents a Silver Rose Bowl Award annually in recognition of good architecture, environmental projects and civic pride.

Kettering Civic Society would like new volunteers to help with archives, general administration or as committee members – all would be welcome.  Coffee mornings are held at Toller Meeting Rooms, Meeting Lane, from 10am to 12noon on Friday mornings, prices are competitive and toasted tea cakes a speciality!

To mark this special year, Kettering Civic Society begins celebrations with a talk by local author, Ian Addis, on "A Post-War Childhood" on Saturday 6th April 2019 at 2pm in Toller Meeting Rooms.  The Society’s Annual General Meeting will precede the talk at 12.30pm. 

The talk will be followed by tea and a celebration cake.  Annual membership of the Society is £15 and the cost of a buffet lunch at 1.15pm is £10 for members, £15 for non-members. 

Entrance to the talk only is £5 which includes tea and cake or biscuits.  Both occasions are open to all, but closing date for tickets is 25th March. The 2019 calendars produced to mark the golden anniversary have been reduced to £5 and are available from 01536 723682 or from The Star Inn, Geddington; Sage & Brooke, Grafton Underwood, and Barton Seagrave Post Office.
