50 Years and New Concept Store

Local family-owned stationery company, Colemans, achieved the fantastic milestone of 50 years in business this year.

Founded by John Coleman in 1969 in Higham Ferrers in response to the needs of local businesses who were automating their offices with typewriters, adding machines and photocopiers, Colemans has gone from strength to strength, opening branches in 14 towns, selling stationery, office supplies, fine art and craft materials.

Colemans has survived and thrived in the face of recessions, competition from large chains and the internet, catering for business customers, hobbyists and students - as well as younger children.  Sadly, they have had to close two branches this year, Wellingborough and Peterborough.  However, not wishing to rest on their laurels, they opened a new concept store at the front of their Central Warehouse in Rushden at the end of July.

This is located at Unit 5, Brindley Close, just off the main Rushden Lakes roundabout below the newly refurbished Lidl store.  It is sited next to their hugely successful Colemans Craft Warehouse, which has occupied since 2005 a 5500 square foot warehouse next door, selling everything relating to craft, cardmaking, art, die cutting, haberdashery, sewing and quilting - and much more!

The new store will sell stationery and office supplies - so customers will get the full Colemans offering in one place - with excellent parking, disabled access and even a lovely café.  The legendary Colemans delivery service: same day or next day with no minimum order is also available, so if you are bulk buying, just leave it behind and they will deliver it to your premises.

Colemans still have their excellent stores in Higham Ferrers, Kettering, Northampton, Stamford, Bedford, Towcester, Oakham, Market Harborough and Oundle, where it also owns Oundle Bookshop.  Existing account customers from any Colemans branch can purchase items on account at the new store - and, of course, new accounts are very welcome!

The concept store is open seven days a week:  Mon-Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm; Sat 9am to 5pm  and Sun 10am to 4pm.
