The next part of the season provides a varied programme with a political thriller, a domestic drama, an adaptation of a classic novel and the story of an investigation into
racism in 1960s America. All films will be shown in the Stahl Theatre, West Street Oundle. Doors open at 7.15pm for ticket sales and bar services. The programme commences punctually at 7.45pm. We hope you will enjoy this season which is made possible only through the support and energy of the large number of volunteers who assist with our operations and grant support from Oundle Town Council. Sunday 11 March - Robin Hood A joint event arranged by Oundle Festival of Literature and Oundle Cinema. Tales of Robin Hood by Simon Heywood, followed by the 1939 film starring Errol Flynn. This event takes place at 7pm at Queen Victoria Hall,West Street,Oundle. Tickets £10 from the Oundle Festival Office, as above or from www.oundlefestival.org.uk

Friday 23 March - The Ides of March (15) With excellent performances by Clooney and Gosling, The Ides of March takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, in which Morris is competing in the Democratic primary elections with his eye on the presidency. All seems set for a victory that will likely propel Morris towards the White House. However, an up-and-coming campaign press secretary finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s ambitions. Running time 101 min.

Sunday 1 April - We Need to Talk about Kevin (15) A riveting adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s bestselling 2003 novel. Tilda Swinton turns in a typically stellar performance as Eva, the mother of a teenage boy who commits an unimaginably heinous crime. As she struggles to deal with her grief the story flashes back to before the incident, when snapshots of Eva’s troubled relationship with her son prompt the audience to question whether evil is something that derives from nature or nurture. A powerful domestic drama with a killer twist. Running time 112 min.

Friday 13 April - Wuthering Heights (15) Centred on the exploits of an impoverished young boy named Heathcliff (newcomer James Howson) who is adopted by the well-to-do Earnshaw family, the film follows the relationship that blossoms between our protagonist and the family’s youngest daughter Cathy (Kaya Scodelario). Widely applauded by critics on its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, this film is set to be one of the year’s must see releases. Running time 129 min.

Sunday 22 April - The Help (15) Adapted from the book, the film stars Emma Stone as Eugenia ‘Skeeter’ Phelan, a strong willed and plucky young writer who wants to write of the black women who have spent their lives taking care of well-heeled white families in the Deep South establishment. Set in the 1960s, segregation is still the norm and at first maids are reluctant to speak out. But after the much respected Aibileen (Viola Davis) comes forward, the women’s diverse and moving stories begin to flow forth. Unlikely friendships are forged and attitudes show signs of changing. Running time 146 min.

Friday 23 March - Jane Eyre (PG)
After a bleak childhood, Jane Eyre goes out into the world to become a governess. As she lives happily in her new position at Thornfield Hall, she meets the dark, cold, and abrupt master of the house, Mr. Rochester. Jane and her employer grow close in friendship and she soon finds herself falling in love with him. Happiness seems to have found Jane at last, but could Mr. Rochester’s terrible secret be about to destroy it forever? Film starts at 7.30pm, doors open at 7pm. Tickets £4 includes free popcorn .

Friday 20 April - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (15) Based on the classic novel of the same name, the international thriller is set at the height of the Cold War years of the mid-20th Century. George Smiley (Gary Oldman), a disgraced British spy, is rehired in secret by his government - which fears that the British Secret Intelligence Service, aka MI-6, has been
compromised by a double agent working for the Soviets. Also starring Colin Firth and John Hurt. Film starts at 7.30pm, doors open at 7pm. Tickets £4 includes free popcorn.

HARRINGTON
Wednesday 28 March - Made in Dagenham (15)
A dramatisation of the 1868 strike at the Ford Dagenham car plant, where female workers walked out in protest against sexual discrimination, fighting for better pay and better conditions. Refreshments from 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm. £5 at the door or from 01536 710822.

RINGSTEAD
Friday 16 March - Oranges & Sunshine (15)
Based on her own book, this film tells the grippingly disturbing story of how, almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with no regard for her own personal safety, Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham, uncovered one of the most significant social scandals in recent times. Children
as young as four had been told that their parents were dead and had been sent to children’s homes on the other side of the world.
