10k Twilight Spectacular at Althorp House

Brush off your walking boots, grab your glow sticks and load up your picnic baskets in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care in Northamptonshire on Saturday 7th September.

Held for the previous three years at BoughtonHouse, which proved hugely successful, this years Northamptonshire Walk Ten comes to one of England’s best-loved historic homes, Althorp. Sitting majestically amidst 1,400 acres of Northamptonshire countryside, Althorp has been home to the Spencer family for fi ve hundred years.

Walk Ten is a sponsored twilight 10k walk which will wind its way through the stunning Estate beginning at 6pm, followed by an after-dark picnic, as participants listen to live music from local band Cousin Avi and enjoy entertainment from Northampton performing arts academy, New Stars. The evening culminates with a fi re extravaganza from local fi re POI performers, as we mark 10pm, the time when the majority of Marie Curie nurses begin their evening shifts, entering homes of terminally ill patients to provide care for them and their families throughout the night.

This year Walk Ten Althorp House is supported by Homeserve, as well as Heart Four Counties FM, who will be supporting the event on the night by sending their Heart Angels along, who will be hosting their Mini Alfresco Zone and providing lots of other family entertainment.

This year alone, Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses aim to offer over 5,000 hours of care in the county, and with this years walk aiming to generate over £60,000, which equates to 3,000 hours of care, you can see the importance of this fundraising event. The walk is for all ages, under 16’s walk for free and everyone who takes part in Walk Ten receives a Walk Ten t-shirt to wear on the night. It is also a dog-friendly event, so fourlegged friends are more than welcome.

Registration for the event is now open and people can sign up at www.mariecurie.org.uk/althorp or by calling 0845 0524184.

Numbers for the event are limited, with no on the night registrations, so entry is strictly on a fi rst come fi rst served basis, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.
