Northampton Students at the West End

The Pauline Quirke Academy Northampton Rocked Her Majesty’s Theatre in London. The students from Northampton, Woodford Green, Bishop’s Stortford (AM) and Cheltenham (PM) academy dazzled their family and friends on Sunday 2nd February with a spectacular performance of PQA’s very own home-grown show ‘Fright Night’ hosted by Pauline Quirke.

As part of PQA’s curriculum, the students have the opportunity to perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End - home of The Phantom of the Opera. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity enables the students to experience the thrill of performing on a West End stage
as well as understanding the huge amount of hard work that goes into a show of this size.

Fright Night tells the story of a group of kids who try to solve a spooky mystery when their car breaks down near a deserted village. The script was divided amongst the academies, who then had the freedom to be as imaginative and creative with their section as they liked: from wacky costumes, to the casting, staging and choreography. Pauline Quirke introduced each  academy onto the stage and narrated the story throughout the show.

PQA Northampton’s Principal Sarah Varnam was so proud of her students for all their hard work over the past seven months leading up to the show. Their professionalism, their confidence on stage and how their lines were delivered to perfection resembles the standards of top West End performers. Above all, the students had fun and absolutely loved performing to a sell-out crowd.
