Oundle International Festival announces the Autumn 2018 programme of Music in Special Places which includes a feature Last Night of the Proms with soloist Maureen Brathwaite and the ever popular Rushden Town Band, an evening with Fauré and Elgar performed by Peterborough’s own St. Peter’s Singers and a return visit from The FB Pocket Orchestra.

On Saturday 8th September as a prelude to the worldfamous BBC Last Night at the Proms, Adele Hudson will lead an early evening 6pm concert with local soloist Maureen Brathwaite and Rushden Town Band in Oundle School’s Great Hall performing true favourites including Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia!  All in time for attendees to get home to watch the traditional Last Night on television. 

The following month on Saturday 27th October, 7pm in St. Mary’s Church, Titchmarsh, St. Peter’s Singers commemorate the end of the First World War with Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful Requiem paired with Sir Edward Elgar’s The Spirit of England, which is dedicated “to the memory of our glorious men”.

Concluding the Autumn programme in November, The FB Pocket Orchestra return as Music in Special Places guests to present their contemporary take on popular acoustic music from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries at 7pm on Saturday 24th November at All Saints and Saint James Church, Kings Cliffe.
