Welcome to the March/April column - I’m hoping that if it hasn’t already, spring will have sprung shortly and winter is a distant memory.

We’ve got a couple of Patron Saints’ Days this month - St David’s is on 1st, swiftly followed by St Patrick’s on 17th March, so happy Saints’ Days to the local Welsh and Irish communities.

Just a reminder that it’s Mothering Sunday on 31st March, the same day as British Summer Time arrives - clocks go forward one hour, I always have to remind myself that it’s ‘spring forward, fall back’ to ensure I get it right!

Easter Sunday is on 21st April - even though the Easter eggs and hot cross buns have seemingly been in the shops since Boxing Day, Easter itself is later this year - the very definition of a moveable feast - its date is usually the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox.

Looking ahead to events happening locally, my eye was caught by something for fans of 80s music and nostalgia, and possibly those who regularly watch The Goldbergs, that fabulous retro-comedy set in the decade of big hair and even bigger shoulder pads - 80s Mania is on at the Core@Corby Cube on Saturday 13th April.

Expect to see and hear music performed from 25 chart-topping acts including Madonna, Bananarama, Duran Duran, Wham!, Adam Ant, Culture Club, Erasure, Human League, Dead Or Alive, Madness, Spandau Ballet, Soft Cell, Toni Basil and Kim Wilde.

For more information on this 80s extravaganza and to book tickets please visit www.thecorecorby.com or call the box office on 01536 470470. If you can’t get enough of the 80s, the Rock Of Ages tour hits the Royal & Derngate in Northampton from 7-11 May.  Billed as an LA love story liberally sprinkled with classic rock anthems, hit songs featured include The Final Countdown, Here I Go Again, I Want To Know What Love Is and We Built This City, to name but a few.

For more information or to book tickets please visit www.royalandderngate.co.uk or call the box office on 01604 624811.

Whatever you’re doing for the next couple of months, enjoy the spring and see you in May.  Thanks for reading - you can read more from me weekly in the Northants Telegraph, and on my blog.
