You may have noticed some very recent changes at Bosworth’s in Burton Latimer in our coffee shop.  Poppies Coffee Lounge has undergone a rebrand and is now called Aspen Café.  Going back some 12 years, it was always one of the ambitions of Sam’s mum, Jill Bosworth, to open a coffee shop within the Garden Centre.   Poppies Coffee Shop was launched in 2007, with Tania playing a key role in this side of the business.   Sadly Jill passed away before the coffee shop opened.

During 2014 there was a slight branding change with a name change to Poppies Coffee Lounge and a new logo to fall in line with the rest of the company branding.   At near to capacity for seating, in 2017 the decision was made to convert the terrace area into further indoor seating with a new extension.   A new decked area was added to the rear of this.

Bringing us bang up to date, the new re-brand brings a fresh new colour, change of crockery and a fresh new menu, retaining many of your favourites plus some new additions.  So where did the name come from?

We have Mulberry Café at Elton, and to keep with the British tree theme running through our catering and after a few ideas were thrown around, Aspen was settled upon.  The Aspen tree is a fast growing deciduous tree native to the UK characterised by its shimmering leaves that turn a spectacular golden colour in autumn.  We hope that you enjoy the new menu and contemporary styling.

We have now been open a year at Elton and it is hard to believe the changes that have taken place in the short space of time.  Mulberry Café had a major refurbishment.  I remember visiting the site before any work had taken place and there literally was a tap and sink in the kitchen.  Now transformed into a fully working kitchen where we are able to provide snacks and full meals from our in house chefs, and there is a great ambiance throughout.  Did you know you can book a table online?

The plant centre is now a blaze of colour, new plant benches have been added, new signage.   We have a selection of sheds and summerhouses being added from IN Sheds and Scotts of Thrapston.  Our furniture area are now fully stocked with ranges to suit all budgets.  Delivery is offered on all our furniture sets.

Into the garden and now is the time to start planting out bedding plants in borders and containers, just being mindful of any late frosts.  As we move into June and to keep the lawn in tip-top condition the lawn would welcome a feed – we have various products in stock at both centres.  Roses should also be at their best through June; to keep them looking their best, remember to keep them dead-headed.

We have some great Coach Trips coming up this year.   All our coach trips (except for Sandringham) depart from Burton Latimer going direct to the destination.  Sandringham Trip picks up at both locations.  Our trips start at £15 per person.  Drop in store and pick up a brochure or check our website for more information.

We look forward to welcoming you to Elton or Burton Latimer over the coming months where you will find out plant areas bursting with colour and inspiration for your outside space.
