Celebrating 10 years of fabulous gluten-free baking

Having been diagnosed with Coeliac disease in 2006, Clare Butlin really thought that her days of eating delicious moist cakes were behind her.  As her mum had also had the same diagnosis a few years earlier, Clare knew that gluten-free food at the time was really quite revolting!  After a big career change, she decided to start her own little baking business in her kitchen at home to ensure that other Coeliacs like her would be able to enjoy delicious cakes and goodies.

There have been many changes over the past ten years - the availability and taste of gluten-free food has increased dramatically and many more people now follow a gluten-free diet.  The business has also changed too; Clare no longer bakes in her home kitchen but now has a super-duper dedicated gluten-free kitchen meaning that the team can produce many more cakes than when the business first started.

Clare’s Cakery still makes many old favourites such as lemon polenta cake and cherry & walnut tarts but, over the years, Clare and her team have developed new recipes such as chocolate swirl cake, apricot upside-down cake and new quiche varieties.  However, no matter how many new cakes they come up with the biggest seller remains their delicious mince pies - over their ten years in business Clare estimates that they have made almost 29,000 and they get requests to make them all year round!

Clare’s Cakery could not have survived without its fantastic customers and the lovely cafés and tearooms that they supply with gluten-free goodies and Clare and her team would like to thank each and every one of them.  As a token of thanks for this support there will be a free gift and discounts off orders placed in September.

Happy 10th Birthday to Clare’s Cakery!
