Summer of Music at Boughton House
Boughton House is gearing up for a summer of celebrations in perfect harmony with one another. As well as its new collaborative exhibition A Passion for Opera: The Duchess and the Georgian Stage, the Estate will host a performance from leading period ensemble Opera Prelude and three outdoor musical cinema screenings over the summer.
The exhibition will be previewed at an exclusive event in conjunction with Oundle International Festival on Saturday 6th July. Hosted by the Duke of Buccleuch, this black tie event will feature a champagne reception, as well as a guided tour of the House and exhibition, before a concert from Opera Prelude, with an ensemble of leading period instrument specialists. Tickets £50 are on sale now at www.oundlefestival.org. uk. From 2pm a separate symposium, exploring the musical life of Elizabeth and her family and their relationship with London’s opera scene, will reveal some extraordinary archival discoveries. Tickets for this are £10, with a full day package priced at £55.
The Estate will also be screening Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born, featuring Lady Gaga on Friday 9th August as well as the awardwinning Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody starring Rami Malek on Friday 20th September (the August screening of this has sold out). Bring a folding chair, a warm blanket and a torch and dress for the weather. Tickets £14, under 15s £9 from or under 15s from www.billetto.co.uk; under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
