Restaurant of the Year
2015/2016

Less than a year after first opening its doors,
Tap & Kitchen, the waterside restaurant and
bar located in the historic warehouse at
Oundle Wharf, has won ‘Restaurant of the
Year’ (sponsored by Whitco) in the Carlsberg
UK Northamptonshire Food & Drinks Awards
2015/2016.

Winning this award was a huge boost for
owners Dick Simpson and David Burnett,
General Manager Dan Coshan and Head
Chef Nigel Fish, who have nurtured and
developed their team from day one and are
very proud of all their staff. Tap & Kitchen
has maintained its approach to food: simple,
with well sourced ingredients, local where
possible, cooked passionately without
compromise on quality. The entire staff are
delighted with where they have got to in such
a short time and how they have done it, but
aspirations and aims for 2016 and beyond
have not yet been met. They have a lot to do
and are thoroughly enjoying doing it.

Plans for the year ahead include cooking on
wood-fired grills and the clay oven outside
in the spring and summer and expanding
outside dining offers in general. There are
many enquiries for weddings and private hire,
and Tap & Kitchen is planning a large Easter
Music & Ale Festival as well as pushing its
core business out to a wider customer base
in surrounding towns and villages.

A recent addition to the ever-expanding
repertoire is a monthly live music event on
the third Sunday of the month, where food is
served from 5pm while great music is being
showcased. With the current expansion of
the Nene Valley Brewery, also owned by Dick
Simpson and David Burnett, and the general
development of Oundle Wharf creating new
retail and office spaces, 2016 is set to be a
year of excitement and great opportunities
for Tap & Kitchen. Watch this space!
