Our fantastic news is that we have been short listed as one of three fi nalists for the Midlands and East of England Butcher’s Shop of the Year 2012 competition. The Meat Trade Journal holds the Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards and it is renowned as the premier They recognise excellence in craft butchery and winners enter an exclusive group representing the crème de la crème of British butchery. We are very proud to get this far in what is only our second year. I hope you are getting excited about Christmas. I have always maintained that you shouldn’t If you haven’t made your Christmas order please hurry to ensure you are not disappointed. We have made a cut off date of the 2nd December; however, there is a small amount of leeway on this for certain items. Have a look at the opposite page to calculate the size of bird or joint that you will be needing. On the farm we are getting to know our new four Highland cows, some have calves at foot and all will produce more calves in the spring. They are still to be named, we are waiting until they get used to us being around. They came from Ringswood, a farm in Pailton near Rugby, who supplies the shop with its delicious, award-winning ice cream made from their own cows pedigree freesia herd. The beef in the shop continues to be from local farmers, with several Dexter’s adding a different type to the counter. Dexter joints and meat boxes are proving to be very popular with our customers. Venison, partridge and pheasant are now in regularly. Please look out for our sign on the road or our weekly loyalty emails. If you are not a loyalty customer pop into the shop and fi nd out how you can become one. Have a lovely Christmas and a peaceful New Year. We look forward to seeing you when you next visit Waterloo Cottage Farm. We are now open: Weekdays 8am-6pm |
