Welcome to the November and December
column, where I think I’m safe in saying
that there’s surely one major topic on all of our
minds at the moment, and that’s Christmas.
Many of you will probably have enjoyed
watching the ITV series ‘Victoria’ which was
screened in the Autumn. If you did, and it’s
left you hankering for all things from this era,
you’re in for a treat!

Rockingham Castle is hosting ‘Victorian
Christmas, Christmas Eve 1849’ from Monday
21st to Friday 25th November.
Picture this - it’s Christmas Eve 1849. The
Castle is decorated to help you ‘time travel’
back to a thoroughly Victorian Christmas. The
fires are lit, the food has been prepared and
the Great Hall table is laid for a sumptuous
Christmas feast.

Guided tours in period costume take
place throughout the day to give visitors
more information about the Castle and its
inhabitants.

Beautifully lit Christmas trees provide a warm
welcome in the Castle Courtyard. If you’re
searching for gift ideas, search no further - the
Gift Shop is packed full of ideas for family and
friends.

Enjoy lunch, tea or dinner in the Castle
Restaurant, or if you’re short of time, just have
a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie - it
would be almost rude not to!

Rockingham Castle is open for the Victorian
Christmas event from 11am to 8pm during the
dates stated above. The Castle tour costs £9
per adult, £4 per child, with under 5s going
free. The Grounds cost £4.50 per car. For
more information please visit the website

Wishing you and yours all the best for a
wonderful Christmas and New Year - talking of
which, see you all in January 2017!
